Each tooth type appears on the left and the right side, so a child has two of each (twenty in all). The American Academy of Pediatrics says baby teeth are ordinarily shed first at about age 6, and molars between 10 and 12: HealthyChildren.org. If you are worried about timing, ask your dentist.
